COVID-19 Information

To our Valued Patients and Families,

Ideal EyeCare is committed to preserving the health and safety of our patients, their families, as well as our staff. At this time our clinic is open and able to provide excellent care to our patients who are in need of medical eye examinations and treatments.

However, this may change as the efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 continue to evolve. We are staying abreast of recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), as well as federal, state, and local government and health departments. We have implemented the following precautionary measures to help limit the spread of COVID-19:

STAFF:

  • Staff is screened daily via an attestation form and temperature check.
  • Staff members are educated and alert for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Our staff members wear masks and gloves while in contact with patients.

OFFICE:

  • We have limited the number of people that may accompany a patient to the visit.
    • Only one parent or guardian may accompany the child in the office.
    • Adult patients are encouraged to come to their visit alone if possible.
  • We have spaced our reception furniture farther apart to facilitate social distancing.
  • Patients are encouraged to wait in their vehicle.
  • We are frequently disinfecting high-traffic and high-touch areas.
  • Examination rooms are rigorously cleaned and disinfected between patients.
  • Slit-lamp breath shields have been installed to protect both patient and physician.
  • In addition to our automated confirmation system, we will personally call you to confirm your appointment and explain our new office protocols.

FOR PATIENTS:

  • All patients 5 years-old and older are required to wear a mask or face covering while in the office. Acceptable coverings include:
    • Surgical masks, bandannas, scarves, multilayer cloth masks (must cover nose and mouth and secured behind ears or head).
  • Only one parent or guardian may accompany the child in the office.
  • Adult patients are encouraged to come to their visit alone if possible.
  • Please complete the registration forms prior to your visit. You may download the forms from our website or register for our secure patient portal and complete the registration electronically.
  • You can send pictures of your ID and insurance cards via the portal (must be done on a computer, the attachments will not transfer if done via mobile device).
  • Call the office when you arrive to check in.
  • Your copay/deductible/etc. can be paid via credit card over the phone or in the office via contactless payment (Apple Pay™, Samsung Pay, or Google Pay).
  • You will be asked to complete a screening questionnaire when you arrive at the office and we may also take your temperature.

How Can You Help?

  • Know the symptoms: Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure and may include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
  • Please call and change your appointment and stay home when you are sick or exhibiting early symptoms of illness.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then dispose of the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces like doorknobs, and handles using a household disinfectant on a regular basis.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before eating; after going to the bathroom; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.  Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • Be prepared and informed on COVID-19 by obtaining regular updates at www.cdc.gov.

If the patient, or any immediate family members, has a fever, cough, has recently traveled to or from an area with high infection rates, and/or been exposed to COVID-19, please contact us at (702) 896-2020 to reschedule your appointment. We are making special accommodations for those with vision threatening issues and the above-mentioned risks.

We will continue to keep you updated on our policies. Thank you for your support and patience as we attempt to minimize the spread of this disease!
